The past few months have been a learning roller coaster ride. I’ve spent countless hours perfecting and meticulously editing the code for this website and template. I chose a template, sought the advice of those that have ventured before me, (finally) purchased my domain, began writing again, took pictures, second guessed myself, switched templates and then did it all over again five times. FIVE TIMES! My days were quickly consumed by reading forums, investigating each of my php files, and “inspecting elements.” Widgets and plugins found themselves into my daily conversations, and frustrations arose. One time I left out one bracket (one bracket!) while editing my files, and it completely locked me out of my site all together.
But alas. The first big milestone is complete. The site isn’t perfect, and I have more editing to do, but for now, I am content. There’s nothing like physically seeing your success after editing lines of code. The joy of my editing triumphs are silly but so wonderful. As I made some of the last few edits before crafting this first post, I began singing the tune of Michael Jackson’s song “This is it” and, yes, I do feel grand.
Thanks to my friends and my husband, James, for hearing me vent about my website tragedies the past couple of months. A big thanks to coffee for keeping me alert, reality television for being the non-distracting source of background noise while I worked, The Civil Wars for creating their relaxing melodies and harmonies for times I wanted to throw my laptop outside my window, and most importantly, thanks be to God for my sanity and salvation. The end.
