… Because we like to get carried away with our fur child and camera to celebrate special occasions.
We’re having a GIRL! Woooo … lots of happy tears were shed today. So, so thankful. I originally wanted to share about our entire pregnancy journey from 2012 until now and all that the Lord has done to bring healing and restoration to us, but time and pregnancy fatigue got the best of me. Another post for another time.
For now, I wanted to take some time to thank the amazing people around me. They say it takes a village to raise a child, but I’m starting to think it takes that and maybe more just to get through pregnancy. There are so many who have made the very rough start to my pregnancy that much more bearable and enjoyable. My heart is overwhelmed.
Jesus, my God, my Savior and redeemer – My all in all, the one that gives me life, the lifter of my head, the well that never runs dry. Thank you, Lord, that you are the ultimate healer. I thank you that your word stands true yesterday, today and forevermore and that I can pray and declare these truths over myself and our baby. Thank you for life, for so perfectly knitting together this child in your likeness and image, that you knew her long before we did and that you have set her apart. Thank you for allowing my womb to be that haven and safe place for this child’s growth. Thank you that you have made me a tree firmly planted by the water that sends its roots by the stream. My delight is in you, Lord. You make all things new.
James – The Lord has allowed me to deeply see and know your servant heart these past few months, and I am overwhelmed with gratitude for all you’ve done and how He has created you. Thank you for cleaning, doing the laundry, cooking, bringing me food, rubbing my back when I was hunched over the toilet so many nights, for wiping my tears on those really hard days, for taking such good care of Sasha, for showing me love and encouragement when I wanted to complain, for bringing me my favorite tub of ice cream after my first public meltdown inside Trader Joe’s (insurance companies are evil) all while maintaining a full load of work and worship at church. You embody the fruits of the Spirit so well – you are loving, kind, gentle, patient and humble. You have seen me at what I think has been my absolute most lowest physical point, and nothing fazes you. You have loved and led me so, so well in this season, and I can’t wait to see you as a father and leader of our home for our growing family. I love and adore you! And happy anniversary!
My fam bam – Omma, Appa, Yuni, John, David – Thank you for carrying me through with your constant prayers and calls and text messages. Being so far away from home is hard and sometimes sucks, but thank God for facetime, hilarious chats on Kakao, and exchanging lots of funny pictures to get me through those sick-filled, bed-ridden days. Yuni – I hope no one ever sees the craziness of our convos. I don’t know what I would do without you. Thanks for always laughing and crying along with me. Thanksgiving can’t come soon enough! John – thank you for responding to God’s prompting to come to Boston to help take care of me. I will never forget my shameless meltdown frantically saying we needed to go to the hospital when you arrived. LOL! I’m dying just thinking about it.
Laurie, Jenn, Jenn and Shelly – My intercessors and my kindred spirits, you all are my home away from home. Thank you for loving me so much to challenge and convict me week to week to rejoice in my suffering, to take hold of the joy that He has given me, to ask for help when I need to, and to help lift me up in times when I am weary. And a special thanks to Jenn for helping me navigate through tricky insurance matters.
Christina K – You were an unexpected but much needed gift. Thank you for checking up on me constantly (even after you had your baby!) and for letting me be raw and honest about the struggles. Yes, #thestruggleisreal. Can’t wait for our girls to meet one day.
Beans and Jencho – Thanks for coming alongside me from the beginning and interceding like mighty warriors over me. The Lord heard your prayers from the east and the west.
My ATLiens – Micah – Thanks for being so excited when all I wanted to do was puke and sleep. A big thanks to you and your mom for interceding on my behalf! Esther – I love our spontaneous, really deep chats. Thanks for checking in on me even when I was so out of it and terrible at responding. You both really are my sisters from another mister!
To my Genesis community and family – thank you to all who called, texted, asked if I needed anything, made a house visit and for all the hugs and love thus far. For those that asked James week to week where I was and how I was doing, thank you for your care.
A big thanks to my fabulous coworkers and bosses who were incredibly flexible and understanding throughout the rough period of me missing days at work.
Oh, baby girl, I can’t wait to meet you.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! – Psalm 139:13-17
